Emerald Performance Materials was formed on May 1, 2006, as an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. Prior to this, the business had been known as the Food Ingredients & Industrial Specialties Division from Noveon, and previously had been a part of BF Goodrich Specialty Chemical, Freedom Chemical, or Lubrizol.
Since the formation of Emerald, the company has continued to grow. Early in 2008, we commissioned an expansion at our Kalama faility in our Flavor and Fragrance Product line. Two companies were acquired - CVC Specialty Chemicals and the carbon black dispersion product line of Wolstenholme International. Both these companies were great strategic acquisitions for Emerald existing businesses - complementing or extending our current product offerings.
While the company name is relatively new, our businesses have a long history in the products and markets we serve, dating back to 1910. Our products are often the benchmark in the industry. Well-known brands include Goodrite® Resin-D, Hilton Davis® colorants, FOAM BLAST®, Freerez® resins, Kalama™ brands and HyproTM RLP & NychemTM Specialty Emulsions (formerly known as Hycar - see our 12/10/2007 press release). The brandnames of our recent acquisitions to Emerald are equally well-known in the market: EPALLOYTM and HypoxTM Specialty Epoxy Resins; ERISYSTM Monomers and Modifiers; OmicureTM Accelerators and Catalysts; UltraJetTM, EconoJetTM, MultiJetTM, PolyJetTM, JetBlackTM, VantageTM, ObsidianTM families of carbon black dispersions for inks, coatings and other specialty applications.
Emerald's businesses units are decentralized, each providing specialized customer service, technical support to its customers. Each business works closely with their manufacturing operations to assure operational excellence. Their distribution network supplies customer needs world-wide. We manufacture products at 8 ISO or FPA-certified manufacturing facilities in the United States, in Europe and South America. Certain processes also have HACCP certification and are compliant to c-GMP standards. We have customer & technical service offices in Europe, Hong Kong, and Brazil. In addition, sites manufacturing food ingredients and processing aids have product offerings which have additional certifications through FDA, US Pharmacopeia, Food Chemicals Codex, European Council, Organic (OMRI), HAACP, Kosher, Haalal and others.
As a manufacturer of additives and processing aids for food, as well for rubber, coatings and other industrial uses, Emerald places its first priority on safety and quality.
